Daily Experimental Design Challenge - Multimedia art and design
Furry Little Peach's Annual Peachtober Creative Challenge
Timeline: 31 days (October)
Furry Little Peach, also known as Sha'an d’Anthes, is an artist, illustrator, and author from Sydney, Australia. She is the creator of Peachtober, a famous challenge that I decided to participate in for the first time in 2023.

As a creative person, I wanted to challenge myself and channel my emotions and thoughts into my creative passions, especially after going through some loss and grief recently. Sha'an encourages all artists to participate, regardless of their medium, and has created a supportive community where we can share our work in a safe space.

The challenge required me to create something for a specific prompt each day, which helped me overcome any self-doubt or fear of sharing and post my work. I also received feedback from other artists, which helped me refine my ideas. This allowed me to flex my creative muscles and create pieces dedicated to my grandmother.

Over the course of several days and weeks, I became more comfortable with feeling uncomfortable about a prompt that I initially wasn't thrilled about. I took the opportunity to learn new techniques, such as incorporating risograph into my design work. I also had the chance to meet some amazing and talented creatives through this challenge, and we all felt a sense of camaraderie and support as we worked to enhance our creative processes. It was a great feeling to know that we were all in this together. As time went on, the nagging voice in my head that compared my work to others began to fade away, and I was able to create without inhibition. This was a powerful and liberating experience.

I was inspired to participate in Peachtober after listening to Dana Tanamachi's  "On the Power of Creativity in Trying Times" presentation at Adobe Max 2023. She spoke about her design background and the creative work that emerged from the Japanese internment camps. I realized that even in dark times, beautiful things can emerge.
The daily prompts I followed in October 2023 were created by Furry Little Peach (Sha'an d'Anthes).

My 31 Days of Creating for #Peachtober23
The media below is my work from Furry Little Peach's 31 days of prompts under the hashtag #Peachtober23. The different types of media include 3D design, graphic design, illustration, ideating, sketching, risograph techniques, photography, nail design, sewing projects, motion, and animation.

Every day, I created a post for Instagram and a corresponding post for my Instagram Story. I enjoyed creating the format for the story as it had an excellent ratio to work with. Every day during the challenge, I wrote about my inspiration for the day and the steps I took to achieve the result. As the challenge progressed, I also included additional details about my creative process, such as sketches, color palettes, and other iterations that I had created.

Nails were later featured in a tiny museum!

I always design my nail concepts before starting the application process. It takes 4+ hours easily, so I find that if I have a clear idea of what I want to do, the process is that much more efficient.

This was my first time painting my nails before applying them with gel-x-tension. I found the process to be faster and required less cuticle cleanup between each color. Having both hands free to use made it easier to complete the task. I applied base colors to all my nails and added airbrushing and 3D spheres to create a design that resembled the poofs on Pennywise's shirt.
